About Us
Belief Theory Institute was founded on a simple but life-altering insight:
People are not broken. They are living from beliefs they never chose.
We bring that insight into schools, youth centers, and communities teaching teens the mental and emotional literacy skills that most adults wish they'd learned earlier.
Our work starts with young people because when teens learn how their minds actually work, how beliefs shape behavior, how thoughts create feelings, and how to separate story from fact, they stop getting stuck the same way.
They recover faster. They build stronger relationships. They show up differently in the world.
We also carry this work into correctional facilities and reentry programs, because transformation doesn't have an age limit or an address. Our curriculum meets people wherever they are in life helping them understand the operating system behind their choices so they can finally take control of it.
This is not surface-level motivation. This is identity-level change.

Our Founders

Elijah Kai
Co-Founder | President
Elijah Kai’s work was born from lived experience inside the very systems he now serves.
After navigating recovery, justice involvement, and profound personal transformation, Elijah began developing a framework for helping others break free from the mental and emotional patterns that keep them stuck. What started as 1:1 coaching evolved into a structured curriculum now delivered inside correctional facilities, reentry programs, schools, and recovery centers.
Elijah is known for his ability to translate complex psychological and spiritual principles into practical tools people can immediately apply in real life. His approach blends accountability with compassion, helping participants shift from blame to ownership without shame.
His core message is simple:
You are not your past. You are not your mistakes. You are capable of change.

Kamene Bacon
Co-Founder | Art Therapy Director
Kamene Bacon brings the creative and therapeutic foundation to Belief Theory Institute’s work.
Through trauma-informed art therapy and expressive healing practices, she creates safe environments where participants can process emotions that are often too complex for words. Her work bridges science and creativity, helping individuals externalize internal struggles, develop emotional literacy, and reconnect with parts of themselves long suppressed by trauma or survival.
Kamene’s leadership ensures that Belief Theory Institute programs are not only psychologically grounded but also deeply human, accessible, and restorative.
Together, Elijah and Kamene have built a model that honors both structure and soul, bringing measurable outcomes and meaningful healing to the communities they serve.
